The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.

(March 2005)

Chief Charles Phelps and accreditation mangers Captain Joe Long and Captain Christopher Anderson of the Troy Police Department recently attended the spring meeting of CALEA (The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.). During the meeting the Troy Police Department received full reaccreditation. The accreditation process is an in-depth study of the policies and procedures used by the department. The study involves areas such as management, direction and control, patrol and investigative functions. By achieving this status, Troy continues to be recognized by CALEA as a progressive and professional organization.

Chief Phelps would like to thank the citizens of Troy, Mayor Beamish, Service and Safety Director David Anderson and the Troy City Council for their support and backing during this process.

Any questions on the process can be directed to Captain Joe Long, at 339-7525.
