He was born at Stouder Memorial Hospital in
Troy, Ohio on October 20, 1934. Mayor Jenkins graduated from Troy High School in 1952 where he played football and tennis. *Received his B. S. S. in 1956 from John Carroll University (Cleveland). *Advanced Mgt. Seminar - University Cincinnati - 1980 *Dr. Edward Deming's - Advanced Engineering Education *The George Washington University - 1985 *"Methods for Management of Productivity and Quality" He worked at Hobart Brothers from 1956 - 1987 as Director of Human Resources/Assistant to Chairman of Board and CEO, then at D & P Industries, Inc. from 1987 to present as President. Military Service consists of six months active duty with the Army at Ft. Knox 5 '/2 years Army Reserves from 1956 - 1962. Troy City Councilman from 1978 - 1982 President of Troy City Council 1983-1992 Mayor of the Great City of Troy from 1992 - 2003 Served on the following boards: Lincoln Community Center (past and present) Troy Park Board (past) Troy Foundation (former) Leadership Troy (present) Troy Country Club (past president 1975) People's Savings Bank (present) Awards: "Outstanding Young Man of the Year" - Troy Jaycees 1962 "Distinguished Service Award" - 1979 Family: Married to his wife Ruth who is a R.N. at UVMC - Supervisor & Coordinator Cardiac Re-habilitation 3 children: Son David Jenkins - Daughters Mary Barker & Julia Melle 2 grandchildren - Madelyn and Jack Barker and baby Melle due in March 2003 The Mayor enjoys "getting to know people", his grandchildren, traveling and current events. |
