What we do
* Flower plantings around downtown Troy. Planters in front of Downtown businesses and the hanging baskets on utility poles around the square. * Christmas decorations around the square and levee (with support from the Troy Foundation) * Sponsor an Arbor Day program * Plant memorial trees and plaques * Tree management around the square * Conduct tree identification and tagging in the city parks * Make suggestions for new plantings around Troy * Present “Green Thumb” and “Merit” awards * Encourage organizations and citizens to beautify properties in Troy Green Thumb and Merit Awards The purpose of the Green Thumb Award is to recognize the landscaping efforts of property owners in maintaining or improving their property and the overall beauty of the city. Criteria: * Only projects or areas that are readily visible from the street can be rewarded * General care and overall maintenance * Size and mass of the area * Color, patterns and textures * Overall effect on the building, property and neighborhood The purpose of the Merit Award is to recognize the architecturally improvements made to properties or buildings in the city.
